Finally only a few steps remain before the two-day backyard makeover is finished and the Stephenses have a backyard they can enjoy for many years to come.
- Paving stones are set in the ground to create a walkway leading to the pergola (figure A). Dean explains the best way to set pavers: use the spade to mark around the edges, then lift the paver, remove the sod and put the stone back in place (figure B).
- The remaining plants are added to the landscape.
- Mulch is added to the beds to give everything a finished look (figure C).
Total materials cost: $2,500. Amount saved by doing it themselves: $800.
