    • Dig out a hole roughly 1 foot below ground level, add 2 to 3-inches of small pebbles and use a hand tamper to lightly compact the stone.

    • Next, lay paving stones in a circle around the opening. A good fire-ring will hold 3-4 medium sized logs. The number of rows depends on the size of your stone, but usually, 3-4 rows will work.

    • As you add layers of stone on top of one another, stagger the pattern so the breaks overlap. This will help with stability and create unique asthetics.

    • Once all the cracks have been filled, tamp the entire patio again. You may need to repeat both these steps, depending on the size of the gaps and the amount of settling.
