Nine hours in to our level two project, we're well on our way with our secret garden. Let's continue!
Steps1. A dianella (Dianella tasmanica Yellow Stripe) is bright and brings in the illusion of sunlight and does well in shade (figure A). These grow up to two feet tall and wide. 2. A kaffir lily (Clivia miniata French Hybrid) has a gorgeous fiery color (figure B). These will draw attention to the column. 3. A mother fern (Asplenium bulbiferum) with its feather-like fronds is added (figure C).
4. A leatherleaf fern (Rumohra adiantiformis) adds diversity (figure D). This fern also thrives in hanging baskets. There are hundreds of different kinds of ferns. 5. A silvery sunproof lilyturf (Liriope muscari Silvery Sunproof) has a diversity of leaf colors from light and pale to dark (figure E). Expert Tip: (Kate Karam, garden designer) Liriopes are great in the pacific northwest where its rainy all the time. 6. The column is finally set (figure F).
