    Steps

    1. We’re ready to bring in another southern favorite, the First Love® gardenia, (Gardenia jasminoides ‘Aimee’) (figure A)!

Note: Feed gardenias every three to four weeks in growing season with acid plant food.

    2. With the gardenias in place, we turn our attention back to the arbor. We plant Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) on the front post of the arbor (figure B). Eventually, this will cover the entire structure.

Note: Wisteria needs to be trained to grow in the direction you want.

    3. Another vine coming in is a smaller one called a mandevilla (Mandevilla x Amabilis ‘Rita Marie green’) (figure C). These are popular tropical vines. They bloom through a long growing season. They will look beautiful over an arbor.

    4. One of the most treasured plants of the south is the rose. Maureen decides to use a Flower Carpet® white groundcover rose (figure D). This rose tree is a moderate grower with profuse, fragrant blooms.

    5. The Flower Carpet red groundcover rose is also added (figure E). Six red rose plants have been brought in.
