    When company's coming, it's nice to pile up a bowl full of sweet cherries with their stems on and serve them as a fresh, light hors d'oeuvre along with cheese and crackers.

    Baked Cherry Cobbler

    3 c. sweet cherries
    1-1/4 c. milk
    4 eggs
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. flour
    1-1/2 tbsp. butter, melted
    1/4 c. confectioners' sugar

    Remove pits from the cherries and place in an 8-cup baking dish. Combine remaining ingredients, except the confectioners' sugar, in a blender. Blend until smooth.
    Pour batter over the cherries and bake 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Dust surface with sifted confectioners' sugar and serve hot. Can also be made with plums, peaches, apples or other fruits in season. Top with whipped cream.

    Cherries and Kiwi Fruit

    1 c. pitted dark sweet cherries
    4 kiwi fruit, pared and cut into 1/4" slices
    3/4 c. coconut cream
    3/4 tsp. finely shredded lemon peel

    Divide cherries and kiwi fruit among 6 dessert dishes. Mix coconut cream and lemon peel; pour over fruit. Garnish with additional pitted dark sweet cherries, if desired.
