Materials: Two glass vases (your choice) Etching resist cream Rubber stamp (design of your choice) Stamping paper Plastic pitcher/container Etching liquid Warning: When working with etching creams and liquids, DON'T work on a ceramic-tile surface. Metal or stainless-steel sinks work beautifully. - Stamp the paper with any design of your choice and tape on the glass vase (figure A).
- Use etching resist cream and apply to the design of the pattern on the glass -- draw with the tip of the squeeze bottle, following the design (figure B). Let dry.
- Fill a plastic pitcher/container with etching liquid. Predetermine how much liquid you'll need by doing the process with water first. If not, this can become an expensive project.
- Dip the glass into the etching liquid and keep it there for 15 minutes. Tip: Place a book or plate with something heavy on it over the plastic pitcher/container because the glass will float (figure C).
Products: Etching resist cream comes in a squeeze bottle and can be found at craft stores. All other materials, including the etching liquid, can be found at craft or art stores nationwide.
