Did you know that it's illegal to dig wildflowers out of the wild? It is, but you can still have a natural, casual look in your garden, according to horticulturist John Arnett. He tells Kim Haworth how he made Epcot's Norway exhibit look realistic, even though he's using plants that can withstand the warm tropical climate in Florida. To create the look of a Norwegian meadow, Epcot uses grasses and plants such as a South American heliotrope (figure A), which has small blooms. Some plants are used in the landscape; others grow in containers (figure B). Arnett suggests using plants that are native to your own area, and he points out that one of the chief benefits of doing so is that these plants are used to growing in the wild. Therefore they require little special care -- they essentially thrive on neglect. Note: For a tour of Disney's Epcot Center map, click here , available using .
