Meet the Grenfell family; Grace, Robert and their daughter, Bernadette. Grace is a real nature lover and a passionate gardener.

They own two and a half acres of beautiful property in Florida, but they've had to do a lot of cleanup and repair after a series of brutal hurricanes damaged their pines and landscape. They have asked for help from Walter Reeves and the DIY Garden Sense team to get the landscape back together and give it a finished look again. Grace wants to use as many native Florida plants as possible.

    Required Project Timeline

The South Florida project took one day to complete.

    Project Details

Here's a look at Walter Reeve's Garden Sense plan for the Grenfells.

First, the DIY team cleared out the messy beds on both sides of the front door. On the far left, they added an East Palatka Holly tree. It's native to Florida and can grow up to 30 feet tall.

Some color was added to the landscape with Crinum Lilies and 'Trinettes' Arboricola and Bromeliads were replanted from Grace's garden.

Along the garage a Silver Buttonwood was added to take center stage along with more of the colorful plants we used in other parts of the landscape. And, a final touch of a curving stone walkway really transformed the landscape.
