Dollars and SenseWe used 30 plants in Hardiness Zone 7 and spent just over $1,300. The most expensive items were the containers. Four of them cost $156. Also expensive were the butterfly bushes. We paid $150 for three of them. The least expensive plants were the verbena at $3.95 each. We saved a lot of time by hiring a crew to dig out outline the flowerbeds and turn the soil before we arrived. The soil was rock hard from kids trampling over it for years. It took our extra crew six hours to prepare the beds. Plant prices may vary by zone.
