Decorating the Gazebo Area for a Wedding

In a yard this beautiful, the Todds choose decorations that enhance, but don't detract from, the natural setting. Jackie and Sharon make creative lighting for the gazebo.

    Materials
    terra cotta pots
    floral adhesive
    moss
    sand
    wax beads
    wicks

Natural plants, such as ferns in eye-catching planters, create a lush look in the yard. Subtle ribbons and bows decorate the gazebo, and simple white chairs with ribbons along the aisle are arranged for the guests (figures A and B).

Jackie and Sharon create mossy flowerpot candles to illuminate the gazebo (figure C). To make the candles, they use floral adhesive to glue moss to the terra cotta pots. They fill the inside of the pots with sand, leaving an inch from the top. Then they place the wick in the center of the pot and fill the rest of the pot with wax beads. Many stores sell scented beads in a variety of colors and fragrances. Finally, they cut the wick to a half inch above the wax beads. The simple lighting accentuates the outdoorsy setting (figure D).
