    Materials:

    Table, disassembled (tabletop and legs)
    Primer
    Sandpaper
    White paint
Acrylic paint (raw umber, burnt sienna)
    Glaze
    Foam paintbrush
Stencil (animal print design -- zebra was used for this project)
    Stencil adhesive
    Stencil roller
    Spray paint (black)
    White chalk

    1. Sand and prime the tabletop and legs.

    2. Paint the legs and tabletop white. Let dry.

    3. Cover the white surface with raw umber acrylic paint and wipe off. This will give the wood an aged look.

    4. Apply the zebra stencil (figure A) with the adhesive. Then use a stencil roller (figure B) to apply the acrylic paint to two sides of the table legs with one side of the stencil and the other two sides of the legs with the other side of the stencil. This creates a cohesive design.

    5. Spray-paint the white tabletop. Be sure to spray both vertically and horizontally to get good coverage.

Work Smart: Always spray paint in a well-ventilated area.

    6. With white chalk, go over the surface of the tabletop both horizontally and vertically. Then erase (figure C) to give the surface a finish any child would love.

    7. Use the burnt sienna acrylic paint and glaze with a roller to lightly cover the chair backs, then stencil the leopard spots with black acrylic paint, using a roller (figure D).

    8. Take a stencil brush, apply the burnt sienna paint and dab the middle of the leopard spots to create variation.

Note: The same can be done with a tiger stencil.

    9. Assemble the table and enjoy!

Note: You can paint and stencil chairs as well. A clever leopard was created here (figure E).

Products: All materials -- except the table and chairs -- can be found at art- and craft-supply stores nationwide.
