Materials: Oatmeal boxes or other cylindrical containers such as mailing tubes Glass or plastic jars to place inside oatmeal boxes 3 sheets handmade paper, purchased from an art store Glue gun (may substitute tape gun with double-sided tape) Optional: raffia, ribbons, cording and unusual buttons or coins Flowers - Cut paper to fit outsides of cylinders, with a 1" overlap.
- Glue (or tape) paper onto cylinders (figure A).
- Place glass jars inside and fill with water.
- Tie raffia or ribbon around cylinders, if desired -- or use a wax melting crayon stamp to personalize your box vases (figure B).
- Arrange flowers in cylinders.
Tip: Here are some other ideas for alternative containers: - Asparagus wrapped around a container, which is then filled with spring flowers
- Bamboo affixed to a container with tiny crabapples on top of each spear
- Moss-and-fresh-lemon basket with tulips.
