    Figure C

Need a centerpiece that doesn't impede dinnertime conversation? Floral expert Dale Rohman offers this idea to dress up an existing chandelier.

    Materials:

    Brass or crystal chandelier
    Variety of small flowers
    4-6 medium-large blossoms
    Wild smilax or other vine
    Glue gun
    Grosgrain ribbon
    Green chenille ties (pipe cleaners)
    Small water vials/tubes
    Paper doilies
    Scissors
    Corsage tape

    1. Wrap vines through the arms of the chandelier to create the look of lush foliage.

    2. Attach the vines to the arms with green chenille ties (figure A), which will blend easily with the vines.

    3. Create vases for the flowers by using small glass (or plastic) vials. Use hot glue to wrap and secure grosgrain ribbon around the vials, allowing the end to extend past the surface.

    4. Pinch the end to the length of ribbon (so that ribbon is snug against vial) and glue into place (figure B).

    5. Add another tube at the opposite length of grosgrain. Add water and flowers to vial (figure C). Rohman advises using 2 flowers per vial to prevent tipping.

    6. Next, fold paper doilies over and cut notch. Fold in opposite direction and cut another notch. When the doily is opened, there should be an X-shaped opening. Position a tulip or other large flower through the opening.

    7. Wrap stem of flower with corsage tape. Hot-glue a ribbon (tied into bow) under the doily.

    8. Use chenille tie to attach the nosegay to chandelier. Add more nosegays as desired.
