    Tips:

    • Did you know? Thomas Armstrong hated to waste the cork shavings produced at his cork bottle stopper plant. When he heard about a new resilient flooring material made from linseed oil, resin and cork dust, he soon revamped his business and was selling Armstrong Linoleum Flooring.

    • Solid hardwood floors can suffer from moisture problems when installed below ground level. For this reason, engineered wood floors are the best choice for below-grade applications.

    • Before you install your new flooring, take the opportunity to fix squeaky sub floors by driving deck screws through the sub floor and into the joists.

    • Laying 90 degree corners is easy as 3-4-5! Measure and mark 3 feet from the corner along one leg and 4 feet from the same corner along the other Adjust the angle of the legs until the distance between the marks is 5 feet and all of your corners will be in the right.

    • Always cut plywood with the good side facing down. Most splintering occurs on the topside where the wood pulls apart rather than being cut against the saw's blade.

    • Clamp lights are very handy at shining light on your remodeling project. For better light, try switching the bulb to a flood lamp within the safety rating of the fixture.
