    Tips:

    • Properly preparing the wood is 80 percent of a good paint, oil or stain job.

    • Always follow the pattern of the wood when sanding.

    • Be sure to stir stain regularly because in several hours it will settle to the bottom.

    • Don't work with paint stripper in direct sunlight, or the stripper will dry before the paint is dissolved.

    • To find rough spots when sanding, cover your hand with pantyhose, then feel the surface.

    • If possible, don't sand fine furniture because it can lower the value of the piece.
