    Topics covered on today's episode:

    Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation discussion

Installing hinges on a new door

    Cutting driveway pavers

    Salvaging old or damaged screwdrivers

Using fluorescent outdoor lights as bug lights

    Stopping fluorescent-light buzz

    Hiding electrical cords

    Opening ceiling into cathedral ceilings

    Installing concrete countertops

Fixing a gap in countertop seams

    Hanging a pegboard

    Tips

    • Tape a Popsicle stick to the underside of your staple gun when you need temporary staples. The stick will cause the staples to stick up slightly and ease removal.

    • Keep a rubber furniture-leg tip in your toolbox and you'll be able to quickly convert your hammer to a soft-tipped mallet.

    • To make your living room seem more spacious, light an entire wall with wall-washers. Wall-washers are recessed fixtures that are mounted on the ceiling an equal distance away from the wall and each other.

    • If you use vanity strips with globe bulbs, choose frosted bulbs instead of clear ones to help minimize shadows.

    • When painting, work from a paint bucket with 3" to 4" of paint in it. Keep it as close to the work as possible to minimize both arm movement and drips.

    • When planning an addition, make sure that new outlets are positioned so that no point in any wall space is more than 6' from an outlet without crossing a doorway.
