    Preparing The Steps For Grouting

Dean and Derek use a brand new product to grout these steps called EuroGrout.

EuroGrout is an epoxy grout and saves a lot of time compared to grouting by hand with a jointer or grout bag. To prepare the steps for the EuroGrout, use duct tape and tape around the walls above the steps to prevent staining the walls (figure S). Also tape the edge of the treads, creating a barrier to hold the grout in the joints.

    Mixing the Grout

To mix the EuroGrout, add a 50-lb. bag of concrete sand to an electric mixer. Then add a two part epoxy component. Add water and mix for five minutes in the mixer (figure T).

    Applying the Grout

    • Pour the grout directly from the mixer onto the bricks. Start with the platform at the top. Use a squeegee to apply the grout and push it into the joints (figures U and V). Spread it in a back and forth motion, on a diagonal with the joint.

    • When your joints are filled, sweep off the excess grout with a broom. EuroGrout doesn't stain the brick and can be used on a variety of surfaces including natural stone and pavers.

Once the grout is dry and the bricks are swept clean, the new brick landing is complete (figure W).
