Your vacation may be over but your memories don’t have to be, bring your pictures to life with a few scrapbooking techniques.

    • A great way to make a big splash is with specialized background papers.

    • Make a mosaic background using the map from the theme park (figure A).

    • To create the look and feel of the ocean, consider using a crimping tool and try tearing and layering different shades of blue paper (figure B).

    • Swirl white paint on blue paper to look like waves.

    • For a 3-D look, use a liquid appliqué pen with a heat gun.

    • To help your photos pop, try "punching" out your subject.

    • Add a layer of vellum to showcase just your family.

    • Think about making a pocket page to store a photo CD and other trip treasures (figure C).

    • With a little creativity your memories can last a lifetime.

    • Think of a theme album as a story and how to best present it. With a theme, your album is smaller and more manageable.

    • When scrapbooking, think paper and lots of it. You can layer, tear and fold it in fun and creative ways.

    • Matte all photos to make them "pop" off the page.

    • Make you layouts simple and classy. Try to use some "texture" on every page.

    • When laying out your scrapbook pages, group things in threes so your eye moves across the pages.

    • You can attach a journal on the top of your pocket page in the back. This journal could include final thoughts on the vacation.

    • Take a panoramic photo and cut it up to look like an accordion.
