Your living space doesn't have to stop at the door. Make your porch and patio an enjoyable place to be year-round. This outdoor room may not have walls, but it can have furniture, lighting, heating, even a kitchen (figure A). - Entertain your friends with a grill and cook-top able to handle small or large crowds.
- Propane patio hearths, like fireplaces and fire pits, are easy to install and house a pleasant fire without the mess (figure B).
- You can further extend the life of your patio with a propane patio heater, which can increase the air temperature 10 to 30 degrees within a 20-foot circle (figure C).
- Use portable torch lights for additional atmosphere (figure D).

- Patio heaters are portable, come in many different sizes and have adjustable temperature controls and lights to extend outdoor time.
- Some propane-fueled lights have solar-activated valve controls to reduce gas flow during the day.
Safety Tips: - When the propane cylinder is refilled, have the supplier check for dents, damage, rust or leaks.
- After filling or exchanging, take the cylinder home immediately. Keep the vehicle ventilated and the cylinder valve closed and capped.
- Always use or store cylinders outdoors in an upright position. Do not use, store, or transport cylinders near high temperatures (this includes storing spare cylinders near the grill).
- If you suspect a gas leak, and are able to safely turn off the gas supply valve, do so immediately and call the fire department.
- Do not allow children to tamper or play with propane cylinders or appliances.
- Do not smoke while handling a propane cylinder.
- When not in use, appliance controls should be turned off and cylinder valve closed.
