Car art is a great way to create temporary graphics than can be easily removed (figure A).

    • Start with a clean vehicle and a few cans of temporary spray paint.

    • Adhere stencils, such as a flame pattern, to the door. For adhesive stencils, remove the outer seal.

Note: For a link to download FREE stencils, visit http://duplicolor.com/products/carart.html .

    • Choose a color.

    • Use short, quick strokes being careful to avoid runs (figure B). Use newspaper to protect from overspraying.

    • If overspray does occur, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth.

    • Once your design is finished, take off the stencils (figure C).

    • Add a few accessories, and you've got a sweet ride.

    • When finished, use a pressure washer or simply wash off with soap and water (figure D).

With temporary paint, you can trick out your car for the weekend, or decorate the van to fire up the team for their big game (figure E). Best of all, it won't wash off in the rain!

    Web Extra:

    • For accurate lines, draw a light horizontal guideline with a grease pencil. Determine the center of the message and position the middle letter first. Place on the remaining stencils working from the middle. Center the holes on the guideline. When all stencils are properly spaced, tape them down with masking tape. Add newspaper around the outside before spraying. Once the paint is dry, wipe off the grease pencil mark with a soft cloth.

    • With magnets, you can attach all types of objects to your car temporarily. Glue pictures or drawings to blank CDs, affix magnets to the back and place them in patterns on your car. Keep wind resistance in mind when creating and placing the objects. Smaller objects work better than larger ones and the rear of the car will receive fewer disturbances from the wind.
