Whether you traveled the word or stayed close to home on your family vacation, make the memories last by creating a wall mural (figure A).

    • Start by using vacation pictures and postcards for inspiration.

    • Keep your design simple. It can be one you draw yourself or images from your vacation.

    • Using an overhead projector (figure B), cast your design onto the wall and outline the image with light pencil marks.

    • Bring your mural to life by using acrylic hobby paints and latex interior paints.

    • For more complicated designs, ask a local copy center to transfer your picture or design onto vinyl. Then, simply cut them out.

    • To mount, roll on vinyl wallpaper adhesive. Burnish the vinyl to get out any air bubbles (figure C).

You'll have a fun mural and lasting memories!

    Web Extra:

    • Fix any wall imperfections with spackle or sandpaper before painting.

    • Use polyurethane paint to seal the wall mural for long lasting wear.
