Materials: Concrete resurfacer 3,500 PSI pressure washer Drill with paddle mixer Squeegee and trowel Five-gallon bucket Broom Safety goggles Note: For best results, don't apply at temperatures below 50-degrees or if rain is expected. - Before you begin to restore your surface, clean it thoroughly with the 3,500 PSI pressure washer. Then mix one part water with seven parts concrete resurfacer, and fill any major cracks or pits with the trowel (figure A).
- Once repaired areas have hardened, use a hose to saturate the surface. Then remove any standing water with a squeegee.
- Next, pour six to seven pints of water into a five-gallon bucket. Gradually add one 40-pound bag of concrete resurfacer while stirring with a paddle mixer (figure B). Combine for about five minutes until it's a thick, pourable mixture that's lump-free.
- For a decorative touch, consider a liquid cement color additive. Pour out a small amount of resurfacer and spread with the squeegee using long overlapping strokes.
- Work in sections (figure C) and work quickly.
- As the resurfacer begins to harden, broom it to give it a more finished look. Don't worry about concrete "pills" -- they can be swept off after drying.
- Continue spreading and brooming until the entire area is covered. Let dry for six hours before allowing foot traffic and you'll have a concrete surface that looks like new at a fraction of the cost.
