Putting a scrapbook together is a lot like following a recipe. You need to gather all the ingredients, mix them together and cook up something special. A family recipe scrapbook is a great way to capture and enjoy those recipes for years to come. Materials: Scrapbooking album Fun embellishments Cardstock Journaling pens Adhesive Scissors Paper trimmer Scrapbooking can be fun for the whole family and working together means more creative ideas added to the mix! - You'll find papers and cardstock in a variety of colors. These sheets are titled "Granny's Kitchen" and offer a vintage look (figure A).
Tip: An enlarged family recipe can serve as a background page. - Photographers are another key ingredient. You can capture the work in progress, tasting your mom's yummy Sunday pot roast -- you daughter sneaking the first warm snickerdoodle cookie, and don't forget to take a picture of the finished recipe.
- Use a journaling pen to jot down memories from family members (figure B). Include thoughts on what the dish tastes like and share feelings on the traditions surrounding the recipe.
Tip: Include a family "favorite foods" section, too. - Just like putting ice cream on grandma's homemade apple pie, don't forget to add embellishments to your recipe scrapbook. It'll make the pages that much richer.
- Include an ingredient label (figure C), recipe cards or a shopping list. You can also mix in surprising "food" ingredients such as a bay leaf or cinnamon stick.
Tip: Try imitating a cinnamon stick with rolled up brown cardstock. - Include copies of old pictures to show where the love of cooking first began.
After "mixing" all your scrapbooking ingredients together, you'll definitely be a seasoned scrapbooker.
