    Materials:

    Two-part epoxy coating
    Abrasive cleanser
    Abrasive pad
    Lime remover
    Roller
    Brush
    Roller tray
    Wet-dry sandpaper
    Tack cloth
    Safety glasses
    Gloves

Note: Be sure to turn off the water to your sink, tub or toilet at the water-supply line before starting this project.

    1. If the item you are resurfacing is portable, take it to a well ventilated area (figure A) to be resurfaced.

    2. Remove any metal fixtures and sand any rust spots that may be present.

    3. Put on gloves and eye protection and scrub the entire surface with an abrasive cleanser using an abrasive pad -- and rinse.

    4. Now prepare the surface with an abrasive pad and lime remover -- and rinse. Repeat the process if necessary.

    5. Now sand the entire surface with a wet-dry sandpaper (figure B) and rinse the area thoroughly to ensure no grit remains.

    6. Allow the surface to dry and remove any remaining dust particles with a tack cloth immediately before painting.

    7. Mix the epoxy coating according to the manufacturer's instructions and apply a thin coat with a brush (figure C) or roller.

    8. For best results overlap each row by 50 percent. Allow the epoxy to dry for the recommended period before apply additional coats.

    9. Allow the surface to dry for at least three days before exposing the fixture to water.

    10. When it dries, install new fixtures, reconnect the sink and your resurfaced porcelain will look good as new.
