    1. Cut out template pieces and pin in place on the back side of the fabric making sure the two pieces meet.

    2. Turn the template pieces over so they are facing the opposite direction. Trace the template, then move the template 1" in the direction of the dog's belly. Trace this line again. This will create a larger seam allowance for the opening. Do this with both template pieces. Cut the two pieces out.

    3. Hem the opening area on the two back pieces. Pin the two back pieces to the front piece (figure A). Make sure the fur is on the inside.

    4. Stitch around the outer edge on a sewing machine. If your fabric is stiff, you may need to take scissors and snip around the corners. Turn the dog inside out.

    5. Sew buttons for the eye, using a needle and thread. Place the larger white button on the bottom and the black button on top (figure B).

    6. Stuff the dog head with poly batting. Overfill the area and make sure the batting reaches into the ear area. Stitch closed on sewing machine, and sew across the neck to keep the batting in place.

    7. Cut hankie scarf from fleece in a triangle shape and tie around neck.

    8. Insert water bottle into opening (figure C).
