Shape wire to look like cursive letters on greeting cards and scrapbook pages.

Love the look of wire writing on gift cards and scrapbook pages? The technique is easier than you think -- as Juliana Hudgins demonstrates.

    Materials:

JewelCraft 20g NT Brass, Black or Tinned Copper wire
    JewelCraft Wire Cutters
    JewelCraft Round Nose Pliers
    JewelCraft Micro Tip Tweezers
    Nylon Jaw Pliers
    JewelCraft Size 6/0 Seed Beads
    JewelCraft Charms
    Thumb Tac

    1. Cut 1 yard of wire from spool and set aside. Next, write selected word on paper in cursive as a guide.

    2. Using your hand, outline letters with wire as if you were writing with a pen. After you have completed the first letter or two, you may find it much easier to finish writing the word while holding the wire up and close instead of directly onto the paper .

    3. When finished writing word, make sure to finish the end of wire with a loop using your round nose pliers.

    4. Add your finished word to paper using a thumb tac. Make tiny holes on each side of wire in random areas. Make handmade staples using 26g wire. Insert staples through both holes on each side of wire.

    5. Turn paper over and lock wire into place using your round nose pliers to create a loop.

    Tips:

    • 1 yard of wire will make an 8-letter word approximately 1-B= inches tall with wire leftover. It is better to start with too much wire than to not cut enough. You can always cut off the excess.

    • Writing with 18g or 20g wire is much easier than thinner wire such as 24g or 26g.

    • String beads and charms onto wire while writing word.

    • When writing a letter such as "U" bend wire according to shape. Use Nylon pliers to squeeze tips together to give letter a more defined looked.
