... to the tea-stained recipe tags inside, this has the look of a vintage album passed down through generations. Anna Griffin demonstrates her method for creating a new heirloom without the wear-and-tear!

Want to add an authentic and lovingly-used look to your next family recipe album? Try tea staining your paper to give it a vintage feel! Anna Griffin shows how.

    Materials:

1 sheet of AG 049 Gold Floral, AG098 Rust Stripes, AG111 Brown Solid, AG114 Rust Pattern, AG115 Red Pattern
2 sheets of AG118 Green Pattern, AG138 Green Pattern
    Transparency film
    Copper eyelets
    Cardstock - Brown and Ivory
    Tags
    Tea Bag or brewed tea
    Spray Bottle
    Ribbon
    Pearl snap
    Decorative zigzag scissors
    1/8" hole punch
    Scoring tool
    Double sided adhesive
    Eyelet setter
    Ruler
    Craft knife or paper trimmer

For each 2-page spread, print the name of a person and the name of the recipe onto a transparency. Be sure to get the transparencies that work best for your printer. If you're not the most computer savvy cropper, you can have the words photocopied onto transparency film at a local copy center using a paper printout. Cut each out, so that the name section is on a piece 3" x 4-5/8" and the recipe name is on a piece 4-5/8" x 5-1/2". Set aside.

    1. Use two different green patterned papers for a total of 7 pages measuring 6" x 9-1.4". Score them and fold them in half along the long edge.

    2. Cut seven 1" x 6" and seven 4-5/8" x 3" strips of gold floral. Attach 1" x 6" strips to the sides of pages, alternating the sides of the stripes between pages. Attach 4-5/8" x 3" pieces to the remaining pages at the bottom. Cut out seven long strips of rust stripe. Add stripes at the top edge of each piece of the floral.

    3. Position transparencies on the pages and punch 1/8" holes for eyelets through the layers of transparency and paper at the same time. Insert eyelets.

    4. Stack the pages together and measure the width of the stack at its highest point. This measurement gives you the height for the spine of the book. Cut one piece of cardstock 6 B<" by this measurement. Cut two more pieces 4-5/8" x 6-1/4" to use as covers. Cut a piece of rust pattern to fit the two covers and the spine. Glue the covers and the spine to backside of this paper.

    5. Adhere pages together along the outside edges, but not along the whole side of the page. Attach pages to covers in the same manner.

    6. Tea stain tags and small piece of ivory cardstock. Brew a strong batch of tea - one pitcher sized bag to one cup of water. When cool, put it in spray bottle and heavily mist tags and cardstock on both sides. Allow to dry. Iron them if needed to flatten them. Print journaling on tags and title on cardstock. Mount photos onto tags. Add ribbon through top of tags.
