Debbie Stapley uses rubber bands and dye to create a tie-dyed wooden tissue box. Materials Unfinished wooden box Fine sandpaper 6-12 large, strong rubber bands 2 or more boxes of dye Small brushes or sponge brushes 2-cup jars with lids Craft knife - Sand the box until smooth and wipe clean.
- Tie rubber bands around box to create desired pattern.
- Mix dye according to manufacturer's instructions. Put lid on jar and shake until dye is fully dissolved.
- Dip brush into dye, remove excess, and paint areas (figure A) not covered by rubber bands. (To create a more defined pattern, score along edges of rubber band with craft knife before dye application.)
- Allow dye to dry thoroughly before removing rubber bands.
