Cake-decorating instructor Amy Malone says that besides creating a beautiful and tasty surprise, cake decorating helps create self-esteem and promote creativity among decorators. Confidence and initiative increase as skills improve. The cakes are decorated using many different tips, a palette knife and a coupler, which allows the variety of tips available to be used on a single bag of frosting. Different tips create different strokes and allow the decorator to create a variety of fanciful designs.
