Author and ribbon designer Ellie Schneider of Offray Ribbon Company transforms a padded hanger into a beautiful bridal-shower gift. It's perfect for hanging lingerie or a bridal gown. Or just hang it by itself in a bathroom.

    Materials:

    Purchased padded hanger
    Satin ribbon in various sizes
    Ribbon roses
    Hot glue and glue gun
    3 3/4" lace
    Floral wire
    Scissors

    1. Wrap the hook of the hanger with 1/4" double-sided satin ribbon by applying hot glue at the base of the hook, attaching the ribbon and wrapping it to the top of the hook. Hot-glue in place (figure A).

    2. Wrap the padded portion of the hanger with 3 3/4" lace, and hot glue in place (figure B).

    3. Make ribbon streamers using 1/8" and 3/8" satin ribbon. Loosely loop 2 yards of 1/8" ribbon around your hand, making three or four large circles. Pinch the ribbons together at one end approximately 1" from your hand, and wrap floral wire around all the ribbons, creating a small loop at the top (figure C ). Cut the loops at the opposite end, and tie in knots to make streamers.

    4. Fold a 24" piece of 3/8" satin ribbon in half, creating a small loop at the top. Place a small amount of hot glue about 1" from the top, and glue two strands of ribbon together (figure D). Make two more streamers from a 14" piece of 3/8" satin ribbon by folding over a 1" loop at one end of the ribbon and hot-gluing it down. Tie knots in the ends of the ribbon streamers.

    5. Hot-glue all the streamers, including the 1/8" ones, to the hanger at the base of the hook. The streamers will be different lengths.

    6. Hot-glue ribbon roses around the base of the hook (figure E).

    7. Continue decorating the hanger by hot-gluing small ribbon roses or whatever you like.
