Kuba Cloth Inspired Wall HangingDesigned by Lisa Shepard Stewart. Materials: burlap in neutral tones HTCW Trans Web paper-backed fusible web Stitch Witchery fusible tape fabric glue steam iron decorative threads or yarns (optional) curtain rod or tree branch length of finished wall hanging width - Cut backing fabric to desired size. Stabilize with fusible interfacing. Hem the raw edges using fusible tape.
- Apply fusible web to the burlap for the applique (2-3 neutral shades).
- Cut applique shapes from the fabric.
- Arrange and fuse appliques into place (figure A).
- If desired, outline the appliqué shapes with large running hand stitches in textured yarn or heavy threads.
- Installation of curtain rod and headboard on the wall at desired height.
Tips: - Try some of those fancy decorative sewing machine stitches around each applique for a more authentic look.
- Cut larger shapes; shapes that are too small get "lost" in the design.
