    1. Create a bone template on poster board the same size as your placemat and cut out. When creating a dog bone template, think in terms of shapes. A dog bone is a rectangle with four circles. So cut two circles on one side and then cut the rectangle down. Fold it in half and trim the other side so that it is nice and symmetrical (figure A).

    2. Trace the template onto the vinyl placemat using a china marker. Cut out.

Note: You can use chalk, but it is messy. The china marker is easy to wipe off.

    3. Ensure that all pieces match exactly by using the cut out place mat as a template on the leopard vinyl. Cut the vinyl out.

    4. Place a little vinyl glue on one edge of the black placemat (figure B) and attach the corresponding edge of the printed vinyl. Press firmly. Lift the unglued edge of the leopard vinyl and add more vinyl. Work in stages until the entire leopard piece is glued to the bottom placemat.

      Notes:

      • When you purchase double-sided vinyl placemats they are sew together and when you cut the template out, you will have open areas. Just use vinyl glue to glue it back down.

      • A silicone based adhesive will also work.

    5. If you have any edges that are going over a little, just trim with scissors (figure C).
