    Garish Garnishes

    Project designed by Matt Maranian.

    Materials:

    lemon
    bamboo skewers
    glass of cold water
nonfat, plain croutons (they burn the best)
    lime
    sprigs of mint
    maraschino cherries
    lemon extract

    1. Cut the lemon in half and carve "teeth" into the flat side.

    2. Remove the leftover lemon flesh.

    3. Soak the blunt end of the bamboo skewers in cold water for at least 30 minutes (so they don't catch on fire).

    4. Attach a crouton to the blunt end of the skewer.

    5. Punch the sharp end of the skewer through the carved lemon, and bring the lemon up the skewer until it is touching the crouton.

    6. Cut the lime into wedges

    7. Using another skewer, punch holes into the skin of the lime wedges.

    8. Insert springs of mint into the punches holes.

    9. Skewer the lime wedges underneath the lemon.

    10. Add maraschino cherries underneath the lime.

    11. Coat the crouton with a teaspoon of lemon extract.

    12. Light the crouton on fire.
