Guest Chef Ray continues his mastery of carving vegetables. This time he joins host Jennifer Perkins to create a clever turnip daisy.

Turnip Daisies

Materials:

1 whole turnip
1 U/V cutter
1 Deba-style knife
1 short blade Thai-style knife

1. Cut a 1/2" wide slice from the turnip.

2. Using the U end of the cutter, make a circle in the center of the turnip slice 1/2 way through.

3. Holding the short knife at an angle cut a thin strip around the center and remove.

4. With V cutter, make eight shallow incisions from outer edge to the center.

5. With U cutter, make eight connecting cuts between the V incisions.

6. Separate flower from background, use V cutter to increase definition between the petals.
