    Materials:

    cylindrical vase
    fabric
    sewing thread
    needle
    measuring tape
    iron-on hem tape
    iron
    scissors
    optional: double-stick tape

    1. Measure the height and circumference of the vase (figure A). Triple the height measurement and add 1-1/2" to the circumference to find the size fabric you need for the slipcover.

    2. Cut a piece of fabric to this measurement. The top and bottom of the fabric will be the circumference measurement and the sides will be the height measurement.

    3. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, hem the top and bottom of the fabric with iron-on hem tape (figure B). Using iron-on hem tape will give a clean finish with no stitches showing on the fabric (figure C).

    4. With right sides together, sew the side seam, allowing for a 5/8" seam allowance. This will create a tube.

    5. Turn the tube inside out and slide the tube over the vase (figure D). Secure the top and bottom of the fabric with double-stick tape.

    6. Fill with water and cut flowers or use a tealight to create a luminary.
