Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza are throwing a party, and you're invited!
Paper-Punched Invitations Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza turn inexpensive decorative paper and punches into expensive-looking invitations.
Materials:5"x7" cardstock paper, darker color (1 card per invitation) 4.5"x5.5" cardstock paper, lighter color (1 card per invitation) 5"x7" envelopes (1 envelope per invitation) scraps of decorative paper ruler scissors decorative paper punch (available in craft stores) glue stick 1. First, decide on the party details: who, what, when, where and why (the details will help determine the look of the invitations, which will be punched and printed on the lighter-colored cardstock). 2. Print or hand-write the details of the party on the lighter-colored paper (figure A). If you're printing the invitations, choose a font and ink color that match the style and theme of the party--and remember to leave space for the decorative punch. If you are making a large quantity of invitations, it's best to do a sample invitation first.
3. Using the decorative punch, punch the paper in a pattern of your choice (figure B).
4. Trim the decorative paper slightly larger than the size of the paper punch (figure C). Turn over the printed and punched cardstock and glue the decorative paper to the back of the card stock (figure D).
5. Use the glue stick to attach the invitation to the 5"x7" cardstock; the cardstock will add a decorative border around the invitation (figure E) (figure F).
6. Slide into envelope. Repeat this process for each invitation.
