Q: I have some pretty jars that I would like to use for bath salts. Do you have any ideas on how I can make them look nice?

A: (Ask DIY crafts expert Carol Scheffler) I love making my own bath salts. They're great to give as gifts as well as to spruce up your own bathroom at home. Here's what you do:

    1. Mix food coloring with Epsom salts and add any scent you like.

    2. Fill a jar with the bath salts and top with a ribbon or a nosegay of dried flowers.

Q: I love the look of etched glass and would like to know what product to use to get that look in my craft projects.

A: I agree with you that etched glass looks very nice. There are a couple of products out on the market that are easy to use. I've had good luck with a product called Armour Etch Etching Cream.

Q: With four kids in school, there is always a demand for gifts for teachers. No surprise: I'm running out of ideas. Can you help?

A: I think that both of the ideas we've already shown would be great given as a teacher's gift, but if you're looking for even more ideas, try this one: Create some homemade note cards for your children's teachers using card stock, rubber stamps and scrapbooking scissors. Bind several cards together and tie them with ribbon. Any teacher would be glad to get a set of these cards, and they make a gift that's useful as well as pretty.

Money-Saver Tip: If you need some clever storage space in the bathroom, paint a white enamel mailbox (really cheap at home-improvement stores -- about $10). Use it to store rolled-up towels, pretty soaps and an extra roll of tissue.
