    1. Creating faux leather and aged rusty embellishments. For the rope, roll Sahara clay into a long snake, fold in half and twist (figure A).

    2. For the barbed wire, twist clay into rope as above. Wrap tiny rope around leaving the ends sticking out.

    3. Highlight barbed wire with Chinese red to give a rusted appearance (figure B).

    4. For the Howdy Tag, cut out tag from template. Stamp images as desired (figure C).

    5. For the border, flatten Chocolate clay to 1/8" thick. Use leather tool to create design. Trim as desired. Apply a section of this to the bottom of the tag (figure D).

    6. Flatten out Sahara and Chocolate clay. Stamp letters into the clay. Cut out into squares. Make some letters out of each color. Cut a star from Chocolate clay.

    7. For the "Pardner" words flatten Chocolate clay. Stamp letters using the Wayfarer stamps for the P R D R. Stamp the A N and E from Legacy letters stamps.

    8. For the journal title, create a journal copy on computer. Reverse print and cut out. Flatten translucent clay. Apply a thin layer of Liquid Polymer gel to clay. Lay journal copy right side down onto clay. Burnish. Trim edges if needed.

    9. Embellish the top and bottom of the journal tile with border that matches the bottom of the tag.

    10. Arrange the rope on the picture as desired. Carefully transfer to a baking sheet in position. Bake all remaining pieces at 265 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool.

    11. Soak journal tile in water to remove paper and expose type on clay. Age with burnt umber paint, wiping off excess as desired.

    12. Apply Chinese red Rub-N-Buff to the letters P A D E R in the work "Pardner" and the "W" in the wordy Howdy.

    13. Add olive gold to the "R" and "N".

    14. Apply brown acrylic paint to remaining letters. Allow all to dry, then lightly sand to reveal highlights and to give an aged appearance.

    15. Apply Chinese red to the borders. Allow to dry; then sand.

    16. Apply brown acrylic paint to rope.

    17. Glue embellishments on as desired.
