    PHOTO
    Project by Rebecca Ludens.

Rebecca gets crafty with cork board and an ordinary label maker as she creates a quick page with three unique embellishments and techniques. The first technique is a quick tip: Start with weathered card stock. This card stock looks like you have already done several texturing techniques to it. It comes in a variety of shades and textures and makes quick, intricate looking pages easy.

    To make the cork words:

    1. Select weathered card stock that will match your page theme.

    2. Print the words that accent your theme onto regular copy paper.

    3. Adhere pieces of sheet cork over the words with repositionable adhesive.

    4. Run the paper through the printer and print the same words again, this time on the cork (figure A).

    5. Remove the cork, trim, and adhere to die-cut tags.

    6. Trim a piece of cross stitch fabric (Aida cloth) to the length and width you desire your border to be. Fray the edges of the cloth by removing a few rows of threads from each side (figure B). Adhere the cloth to the page with permanent adhesive.

    7. Add the tags, some fiber and ribbon.

    8. Mat photos on the same paper you cut the tags from and you have an intricate-looking, quick scrapbook page.

    For the embossed words page:

    1. Use weathered card stock for the background of your layout.

    2. Choose a coordinating color to cut into 3/8-inch strips.

    3. Run one of these strips through a label maker, pressing each letter to create the words that will go with the theme of your page (figure A).

    4. Use sandpaper to lightly sand across the surface of the embossed strip (see again figure A). This will cause the letters to show up white on the colored background.

    5. Add these strips to your page using decorative silver mini-brads.

    6. Tear and sand photo mats from the same paper used for the strips. Add photos and adhere to the page.
