Project by Rebecca Ludens. This is a great way to teach a child to count while preserving photos of his favorite toys for later years.
Materials:3-1/2" x 2-1/2" photos of toys
11 pieces 4-1/4" x 3-3/4" black card stock
primary/bright colored card stock
tag die or template
various geometric shaped punches
laminating and binding equipment (optional) *
* Note: You can have both of these done for you at your local print shop or office supply store.
1. Create a simple title page. Print the title on bright-colored card stock and mat it on a complimentary color. Adhere to a black card stock page.
2. On the back of the title page, create the first number page. Layer a die-cut or sticker number to a colored tag with that same number of punched geometric shapes to one side of the tag. Leave 1/2 inch at the bottom of the page for binding.
3. Create the first of the photo pages on the front of the next black card stock page. Mat the photo in a bright color of card stock and adhere to the page, leaving 1/2 inch at the top of the page for binding.
4. Repeat these steps to complete the desired number of pages.
5. Laminate the pages so that the book will be sturdy enough for a child to play with.
6. Bind the pages together with a plastic spiral or other binding, depending on safety concerns.
