Tips for getting the best baby photos:

    1. Make sure baby is well fed.
    2. Take pictures at their happiest time of day.
    3. Dress children according to event.
    4. Give them props appropriate for event.
    5. Take pictures of their small hands and feet in contrast to adults.

Karen shares an "outside-the-layout" journaling technique for interactive "first moments" scrapbook pages.

    Materials:

    12" x 12" page protector
    11" x 1-1/2" title pocket (#01426)
    shades of blue paper (#60556)
    shades of red paper (#60553)
    shades of green paper (#60554)
    shades of yellow paper (#60552)
    stitched trim paper (#60550)
Karen Foster Design scrapper's floss orange (#00248), red (#00255), dark blue (#00247)
Karen Foster Design handwritten alphabet rub-ons (#04000)
    eyelets
    Karen Foster Design Clikit
    stylus
    tape

    1. On the outside front of the page protector, affix the title pocket 1/4 inch from the bottom and centered horizontally.

    2. Cut a 1" x 12" strip of the stitched trim paper. Adhere 1/4 inch from the top of the shades of blue paper.

    3. Cut an 8-1/4" x 12" strip of the shades of red paper. Adhere 1/2 inch from the top of shades of blue paper, layered on top of the stitched trim paper.

    4. Cut a 7" x 12" strip of the shades of green paper. Adhere 3/4 inch from the top of shades of blue paper, layered on top of the stitched trim and shades of red papers.

    5. Cut a 6" x 12" strip of the shades of yellow paper. Adhere 1-1/2 inch from the top of the shades of blue paper, layered on top of the stitched trim, shades of red and shades of green papers.

    6. Using the Clikit, punch a hole and set an eyelet 1/4 inch from each edge and centered vertically on the shades of green paper.

    7. Cut three 14-inch pieces of the dark blue scrapper's floss. Thread the ends of the three pieces of floss through the eyelets and affix to the back with a piece of tape.

    8. Affix photos of your choice on the shades of yellow paper.

    9. Put the finished page inside the page protector.

    10. Cut six 5" x 1-1/2" strips of the stitched trim paper. Fold each strip in half to make the journaling tags.

    11. Score each tag with the stylus to make the journaling tags easy to open.

    12. Using the Clikit, punch a hole and set an eyelet on the top center of each journaling tag.

    13. Cut six 6-inch pieces of each color (red, orange and dark blue) of the scrapper's floss. With one piece of each color of floss, thread through the eyelet of the tag and loop the ends through. When done with all the tags, trim ends to make the floss even on all six tags.

    14. Using the shades of red paper, cut six 3/4" x 3/4" squares.

    15. Using the shades of yellow paper, cut six 1/2" x 1/2" squares. With the handwritten rub-on alphabet, spell a six-letter word on the shades of yellow squares, for example, "Firsts". Glue the shades of yellow squares onto the shades of red squares.

    16. Affix the letter squares to the outside of each title pocket. Center the letter squares horizontally and vertically.

    17. Using the letter on the front of the title pocket as a guide, write a memory or quote in each tag. For example, if the letter is F, start the journaling with the letter F (i.e. "For nine months we waited and you arrived on July 27, 2003").
