    PHOTO

It's hard to believe that tissue paper was used to create the textured background for this delightful birthday photo!
Guest Lori Bergmann shares a technique that uses ordinary white tissue paper to create unique backgrounds for your pages.

    Materials:

    Tissue paper
    Permanent double-sided adhesive
    Removable double-sided adhesive
White, pink, orange, green and yellow cardstock
Sizzix Shadow Box Number Set and Die Cutter
    Dura-Lar film by Grafix
    Matte Gel Medium from Liquitex
    White brads
    Black pen

    1. Use repositionable adhesive to temporarily attach the tissue paper over a piece of letter sized piece of copy paper, making sure it holds down on the leading print edge and partially down the sides very flat and tight so the printer will not misfeed the paper. Trim tissue paper if any edges are extending over the edge of the copy paper. Print out photo to 8" x 8" size; set aside to dry for a few minutes. Tip: Use the "Draft" setting when printing onto tissue paper so that the colors won’t print out too dark or saturated on the thinner paper.

    2. Crumple printed tissue paper and gently flatten out. Adhere to film with gel medium by first brushing on a layer of medium to the film, add tissue with the printed side facing down, then brush on another layer of medium to seal it flat. Set aside to dry. Tip You can speed drying time by using blow dryer on low setting.

    3. Cut out four 5.75" square blocks from colored cardstock and mount to white cardstock to create background, leaving approximately 1/8" space in between.

    4. Trim down dried tissue photo to approximately 7.75" square. Layer over white 8" square and attach to background with white brads.

    5. Die-cut number 8 four times using Sizzix tools from same colored cardstock and adhere to corners of blocks. Add title in black pen to complete layout.
