Guest Faye Morrow Bell offers step-by-step instructions for taking advantage of one of today's hottest scrapbooking trends: altered books! Here, Bell recreates the look of an altered book in her scrapbook.

    Materials:

    Patterned paper
    Label
    Tag
    Computer font
    Pen
    Staples

    1. Cut four 2" x 11" strips and stack the strips together with printed sides facing up.

    2. Staple strips along left side, then begin distressing the pages. For example, consider dog-ear the corners, sand the corners, ink and tear the edges.

    3. With wrong sides facing up, adhere the pages to bottom of layout. Adjust the corners and add embellishments such as paper clips.

    4. Add photo, journaling block and label.
