Project by Jill Miller.Jill writes, "It took two years for my grandfather, John LaBella, to join the United States Army during World War II. His family emigrated from Italy to New York City when he was just 4 years old, so when the war began, my grandfather felt it was his duty to protect his beloved America. His father, however, had died before becoming a citizen, and so my grandfather struggled to serve his country and never once gave up the fight to fight. This page is a tribute to his patriotism and persistence to do his duty to protect his family. I look to his example whenever I am struggling with my own family duties and draw from his strength the will to fight for a good cause."
