Project by Danielle Boucree.Use leftover pieces of paper, empty letter sticker sheets, small sticker pieces, and ribbon to make an educational stand-alone book for your child to carry around and learn from. What better way to learn your numbers than with a counting book, made with love!
Materials:
white, red, bright yellow card stock
Color an Angel sticker sheets
vellum
Fiskars paper cutter
scissors or craft knife
hole punch
yarn
metallic silver rainbow tape
thick marker
glue stick
1. Make a basic book: Carefully cut two 12" x 12" sheets of red and yellow card stock in half (resulting in eight 6" x 12" strips).2. Bend all sheets in half to create a 6" x 6" book structure.
3. Punch two holes in the "binding" of the book (figure A).
4. Loop yarn into both holes and make a knot on the outside to keep the book together.
5. Make six scrap borders (to be used on the outside of each page in the book): Cut 1" x 6" strips from a piece of white card stock.
6. Adhere pieces of paper and sticker scraps to each strip to make a collage of random design (figure B).
7. Affix a border strip to the outside of all right hand pages.
8. Create handmade numbers (1-10): Place leftover sticker design strips on a piece of scrap piece of card stock, lined up side by side (design is completely up to you?personalize it!) (figure C).
9. Use scissors to cut squares around the used number stickers. Remove from backing and place on top of sticker strips (figure D).
10. Cut around the number, resulting in your own designed letters (figure E).
11. Affix the numbers in chronological order to the top left hand side of each page.
12. Journal the appropriate word along the top of each page (i.e. balls, pacifiers, balloons, etc.) next to the handmade number.
13. Affix your pictures and appropriate stickers to the remaining portion of each page (i.e. picture of baby with balloons and balloon stickers) (figure F).
14. Use last page to create your own special message to your precious child.
