Double-Sided Pocket Page From "Scrapbooking" episode SCB-407

Paper folding seems really complicated, but with a little imagination, it can actually help you scrap faster! Create two pocket pages at a time with this clever fold. Layering sheets of decorative paper back to back makes an elongated sheet. Fold the sheet using simple folds to make pockets that are functional on both sides of the page. These vertical pockets give you plenty of space to store photos and memorabilia--a great way to remember your trip, save birthday cards and memories, or keep track of all the papers and photos from building your dream house.

Materials:

Anna Griffin 12" x 12" decorative papers: blue paisley and houndstooth; green houndstooth
scoring tool
ruler
adhesive
1/4" rectangle hole punch
buttons
ribbon
scissors
journaling pen

1. For this page, papers are glued together back to back. Start by attaching a blue paisley sheet to a blue houndstooth check pattern paper, leaving the houndstooth check protruding 3 inches from under the paisley. Add more papers, with a green houndstooth check next to the first blue paisley, and a blue paisley then a blue houndstooth next to the blue houndstooth check (figure A).

2. Fold the 3-inch-wide edge of blue houndtooth check up and over the blue paisley paper to create the first pocket (figure B).

3. Score the paper for the pocket folds, measuring up from the bottom of the blue paisley paper. Score at 7 inches, then 5 inches from that, then 7 inches from that, then 3-1/2 inches from that. Fold the pockets along these score lines with a simple accordion fold: First fold down, then up.

4. The final fold gives the page a little margin for error. Measure the finished folded sheet and mark the 12-inch mark. Score at that mark and fold the paper up and back under the edge of the top pocket. This gives the page a nicely finished look, but also makes allowance for any variations in measurements. Adhere all pockets along the edges

5. Turn the pockets sideways. Along the top and bottom edges, measure a half-inch in and then at every 2 inches. Punch at these marks with the rectangle punch. Cut four 1/4-inch strips of green decorative paper. Glue each strip to the back of another, making two double-sided strips of paper. Thread these strips through the holes punched in the pocket page (figure C).

6. Print titles and journaling onto ivory cardstock and tags (figure D). Mount titles in place with green decorative paper and buttons to accent them. Add ribbon to the tags and insert in pockets. Fill pockets with memorabilia.
