    Add a really personal touch to your pages by using the ancient art of quilling to create unusual dimensional embellishments for your scrapbook pages.

    Materials:

    1/8" quilling paper: white, pale pink, pink, seafoam green, yellow, black, rose
    1/16" quilling paper: yellow, seafoam green
    24" strip of 5/8" yellow quilling paper
    12" x 12" pink paper
    12" x 12" rose paper
    decorative-edge scissors
    circle templates for picture "frames"
    double-sided tape
    white glue
    corner rounder

    1. Use pink paper as background color.

    2. Cut 24-inch yellow strip in half lengthwise with decorative scissors.

    3. Use double-sided tape or glue and yellow strips to make a border around 12-inch-square page (figure A).
    4. Cut 2-inch photo frames from rose paper.

    5. Cut four 3" x 4" x 3" triangles from rose paper for corners. Use decorative scissors for long side of triangle and use corner rounder on corner (figure B).

    Here are instructions for creating the advanced quilling shapes used in this project.

    1. Make a diamond-shape quill using a 6-inch strip of yellow.

    2. Make a diamond-shape quill using a 6-inch strip of seafoam green.

    3. Make a diamond-shape quill using a 3-inch strip of pink.

    4. Make a diamond-shape quill using a 3-inch strip of yellow.

    5. For the face, make a tight circle using 18-inch of pale pink.

    6. For shoes, make two shaped teardrops using 1-1/2-inch white for shoes.

    7. Make two arrow shapes using 1-1/2-inch white for hands.

    8. For hat, fold a small piece of pink into a cone shape. Trim with a 1/16-inch-wide piece of rose paper.

    9. Make four small fringed flowers to decorate hat, front of clown suit, and on shoes.

    10. Draw eyes on face with fine black marker.

    11. Make a tiny tight roll from rose or red for nose.

    12. Arrange as shown.

    1. Make three teardrop shapes from 6-inch strips of pink. Shape into triangles to make skirt.

    2. Make two teardrops from 3-inch strips for sleeves of dress.

    3. Make two rectangular shaped legs from pale pink.

    4. For shoes, make two shaped teardrops from 1-1/2-inch strip of black.

    5. Make two arrow shapes from 1-1/2-inch strips of pale pink for hands.

    6. Make tight circle from half a strip of 1/16-inch green and a quarter of a strip of 1/16-inch yellow paper. Carefully shape into hat and glue onto dress.

    7. Make small bow from seafoam green and glue to dress.

    8. Arrange as shown.

    1. Make a diamond shape using 6-inch strip of seafoam green. Leave a 1/2-inch tab sticking out beyond the body. Split down the middle and curl ends to form antenna.

    2. Using two yellow strips with pink strip in between. Use alternate side looping to create upper and lower wings.

    3. Arrange as shown.

    1. Make five open hearts--three green and two yellow.

    2. Make one open V-scroll using a 3-inch yellow strip.

    3. Make bow using seafoam green.

    4. Arrange as shown.

    1. Make eight open S-scrolls using 3-inch strips of pink.

    2. Make eight tight circles using 3-inch yellow strips.

    1. Cut four 1-1/2-inch strips of seafoam green for stems.

    2. Make four tight circles using 1-1/2-inch strips of yellow.

    3. Make 14 teardrops using 1-1/2-inch strips of rose paper.

    4. Arrange as shown.
