Project by Laurie Rhodes.Image transfer with clear packaging tape is a great way to create themed elements that tie into the pictures on the page. Like magic, you will see your photo in vibrant color on the tape. From these image transfers, you can create the title block, center border strip, journaling block embellishment, and leaf elements.
Materials:
Duck packing tape
12" x 12" Bazzill card stock: 2 natural, 1 bronze, 1 chili
color copies of two 4" x 6" photos, 1 panoramic photo *
Fun Serif Sizzix alphabet letters
EK Success Paper Shapers: medium maple leaf punch
Duck Easy-Stick double-stick adhesive
bone folder
paper trimmer
bowl of warm water
* copy needs to be from copier that uses toner
1. Place a strip of Duck packing tape across the length of a color copy of two 4" x 6" photos (figure A) and one panoramic photo. Rub the tape down in both directions with a bone folder.2. Soak the images in a bowl of warm water for at least five minutes.
3. Rub the white side under running water in a circular motion with your thumbs to remove all the paper. Blot dry.
4. For background: Tear a 1-1/2-inch strip out of the center of 12" x 12" piece of bronze card stock. Chalk torn edges if desired.
5. Attach to the top and bottom of the 12" x 12" natural card stock. Do not adhere the middle edges at this time.
6. To create the center border: Cut the panoramic image transfer into 2" x 3" and 2" x 8" pieces.
7. Adhere these pieces on the natural card stock between the torn bronze pieces (figure B). Begin with the 8-inch piece at the left edge of the page and the 3-inch piece at the right edge.
Note: There will be a gap near the middle of the border that will be covered by a photo.
8. Adhere the torn edges of bronze to the page.
9. For title block: Mount one of the 2" x 6" image transfers to a 2-1/4" x 6-1/4" piece of natural card stock.
10. Mount this on a 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" piece of chili card stock.
11. Adhere the F-A-L-L letters, cut from chili card stock, vertically to complete the title block. Adhere to upper left corner of the page (figure C).
12. From the last image transfer, cut a 1/2" x 6" strip and place it along the bottom edge of a 3" x 5" piece of natural card stock.
13. Journal on this block and mount on a 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of chili card stock (figure D).
14. Place journaling block on lower left corner of the page.
15. Mount remaining piece of this image transfer to a piece of natural card stock. Punch out three maple leaves and place in a vertical line to the right of the title block (see again figure C).
16. Mount two 4" x 6" photos onto 4-1/4" x 6-1/4" mats of chili card stock (figure E). Place on page as shown, being sure to cover the gap in the center border.
