    1. Freehand the sand for the beach by creating a line at an angle with a medium brown chalk. Then fill in anything below that line.

    2. Create the horizon line by using the jagged edge on Chalk Talk. Place the jagged edge where you would like the horizon line to go and dust dark blue chalk along the edge.

    3. Fill in the water with small areas of the jagged edge all the way down to create waves, similar to the beach design shown in figure A.

    4. Add a sunset by using the center on the Chalk Talk. Start with yellow for the sun and then create a rainbow with the three oranges, going from the lightest to the darkest (figure B).

    5. Remove the template. Shade yellow along the horizon line to remove the divider between the sun and sunset.

    6. Shade the darkest orange along the outside of the sunset to spread the sunset out as far as you would like.

    7. You may add mountains using the zigzag edge on the Chalk Talk along the horizon. Shade downward into the mountains with dark brown or black.

    8. Add extra details such as a deer or other wildlife (figure C).

    9. Spray with a sealant to protect the chalk if desired.
