DIY Crafts host Mary Lyon explains more rubber-stamping techniques, using new products on the market. Make your own rubber-stamp designs using sponge material from Comotion Rubber Stamps. Heat the material with an embossing tool, and press it into a bowl of uncooked curly pasta. The imprint of the pasta will stay in the material as it cools. Apply stamp markers or an ink pad to the sponge, and use it as you would any rubber stamp (figure A). Rollographs are ideal for kids who want to rubber-stamp and parents who don't want a lot of mess. These products come with several different roller cartridges imprinted with rubber-stamp designs and a built-in ink pad. The stamps are inked as the cartridge rolls over the pad. Just roll the cartridge onto paper in one direction (figure B). Embossing powders may be used to raise a stamped image. They must be used with glycerin-based ink and a heating tool. You can emboss your own handwriting by using an erasable-ink pen, available in drugstores. Write on the paper's surface, sprinkle on embossing powder, and apply the heating tool.
